How to Talk to Your Clients About RECOMMENDii

When a Client Asks "Wait, You Get Paid for This?" Here is What to Say.

At some point a client is going to ask.

They will scan your QR card, look at your profile, and notice that the businesses listed are paying to be there. Or they will hear that you earn money from recommendations. And they will look at you and ask the question.

"Wait. You get paid for this?"

This article gives you simple, honest answers you can use right there in the moment. No long explanations needed. No awkwardness. Just the truth, said plainly.

First, why the question is a good sign

When a client asks this, they are paying attention. They care about whether your recommendation is genuine. That is exactly the kind of client who will trust you once you explain it well.

Do not get defensive. Do not over-explain. Just answer it honestly.

The short answer

If you only have thirty seconds, say something like this:

"Yes, I do earn something when a business is on my list. But only if I actually believe in them. My name is right there next to theirs. If they let you down, that is on me. So I only put businesses on there that I would send my own family to."

That is it. Most people will nod and move on. The ones who want to know more will ask.

If they push back

Some clients will say something like "but you have an incentive to recommend them even if they are not that good."

Here is what you say:

"Think about it the other way. If I recommend someone bad and you have a terrible experience, you are going to tell me. You might not come back. You definitely are not going to trust the next thing I suggest. So I lose a lot more than I gain by putting someone on my list who does not deserve it."

This is the truth. And most clients will recognise it as the truth when they hear it.

Compare it to something they already understand

Sometimes a real-world comparison helps.

"Think about when your doctor refers you to a specialist. Your doctor has a professional relationship with that person. They trust them. And because your doctor's reputation is on the line, you trust the referral. Nobody says the referral is suspicious just because your doctor and the specialist know each other. You trust it because your doctor would not send you somewhere bad."

Then you can add:

"It is the same idea here. My name is next to every business on my list. My clients can see it. That is why I only put people on there who I know will treat you right."

Most people get this immediately. The referral has weight because the person making it has something to lose if it goes wrong.

The one thing you should never do

Do not hide it.

If a client finds out later that you earn money from your recommendations and you never mentioned it, they will feel misled. Even if every recommendation you made was honest and good, the secrecy will undermine it.

RECOMMENDii is a transparent platform. Your profile shows which businesses you recommend. The model is public. Being open about it is not a weakness. It is what makes the whole thing work.

What to say when a client wants to look up a business on your list

Encourage it. Hand them your QR card and say:

"Scan that. You can see every business I recommend and go directly to their page. If you want to know more about any of them, just ask me."

That kind of openness builds more trust than any explanation ever could.

The bigger picture

The clients who ask hard questions are usually the best clients. They are careful. They pay attention. When they decide to trust you, they stay loyal.

Answering the "you get paid for this" question honestly and confidently is one of the best things you can do for your reputation as a RECOMMENDer.

It shows you have nothing to hide. Because you don't.
