Your name is on every Recommendationship you create. That is the whole point of RECOMMENDii.
It is also the thing that requires the most care.
On RECOMMENDii, you are not selling a service. You are not writing reviews. You are lending your credibility to businesses you believe in.
That credibility is worth something. It has taken you years to build. The people who trust your recommendations trust them because you have never steered them wrong.
Every business you add to your list borrows some of that credibility. Make sure they deserve it.
The simplest rule is also the most important. Only create Recommendationships with businesses you have personal experience with.
Not businesses you have heard good things about. Not businesses that seem reputable. Businesses you have used, seen the results of, or sent clients to already.
If you would not send your most important client to them, do not put them on your list.
A business you recommended two years ago might not be the same business today. Staff changes. Ownership changes. Quality changes.
Check in with the businesses on your list periodically. Not obsessively. But enough to know that you can still stand behind them.
If something changes and you can no longer recommend them with confidence, end the Recommendationship. That is not a failure. That is the system working exactly as it should.
On RECOMMENDii, businesses can send you a Recommendationship request. That means some of the businesses that ask to be on your list may be ones you have never dealt with before.
Do your due diligence. Ask around. Visit them if you can. Look at how they treat their clients.
There is no rush to say yes. A request that sits unanswered is far less damaging than a Recommendationship with a business that lets someone down.
Over time, your Recommendationship list becomes a public record of your judgement. People will look at it and decide whether they trust your recommendations.
Build it slowly. Build it honestly. The people who follow your recommendations are trusting you with something important. Do not take that lightly.
